- We accept quotation requests for this port. Shipping line, transit time and frequency are not published; they are confirmed in each written offer. Madagascar imported about 54,000 tonnes of used clothing in 2023 (US$71 million) (UN Comtrade).
- Known restrictions
- Madagascar: the U.S. Commercial Service list of prohibited and restricted imports (published 2025-08-04) does not mention used clothing; local press reports a large second-hand clothing market and pressure from local textile producers (March 2025). Confirm the current rules for each shipment. The 2026 Amending Finance Law introduces a 10% excise duty on imported second-hand clothing (heading 6309.00).

Kenya's mitumba trade is the largest in East Africa: imports reached Sh27.8 billion in the year to March 2024, and Nairobi's Gikomba is its best-known market. Kinshasa's friperie markets, such as UPN and Liberté, are supplied with bales from Europe that arrive through Matadi and travel on by the Matadi–Kinshasa road; a 50 kg bale of sweaters is commonly called a “médium” (ACP, July 2026). Ghana is one of Africa's largest buyers of second-hand clothing: about 111,000 tonnes a year, 47 % of it from Europe (Oxford Economics, 2023 data).
